Join us for the next session of the Celebrations of the World series at your South Branch Library. It’s a series where kids can learn about festive occasions hosted around the world through an interactive storytime. Meetup as we learn how people across the globe celebrate different times of the year through lively read-alouds, colorful pictures, and interactive discussions. At this session, we’ll learn about the Fete of the Little Boats, which is a celebration held by towns along the Moselle River in France on April 6. The festival marks the arrival of spring and is a time for children to make little pine wooden boats to float along the river. Children then make wishes for their future and if someone finds the boat, it’s said to bring good luck for the rest of the year. Come out to learn about the festival and kids will get the chance to make their own little boat craft too (all materials supplied).
