Celebration of Local Asian American Authors Panel at One More Page Books

Join us for an evening highlighting some of the fabulous Asian American authors that live in the DMV area! They'll discuss their writing experiences and stories ranging from thrillers to picture books. What better way to close out Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month?

Featured authors:

• Sujata Massey (THE STAR FROM CALCUTTA) is the author of fourteen novels, two novellas and numerous short stories that have been published in eighteen countries. Her novels have won the Agatha, Lefty, Macavity and Mary Higgins Clark prizes and been finalists for the Edgar, Anthony, and Harper Lee literary awards. Sujata writes mystery and suspense fiction set in pre-Independence India, as well as a modern mystery series set in Japan. She earned a B.A. in Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University and wrote features for the Baltimore Evening Sun newspaper before becoming a novelist.
• Eric Nguyen (THINGS WE LOST TO THE WATER) earned an MFA in creative writing from McNeese State University. He has been awarded fellowships from Lambda Literary, VONA, the Sundress Academy for the Arts, and the Tin House Writers Workshop. For his writing, he has received the Crook's Corner Book Prize and the Saints and Sinners Emerging Writer Award. Currently, he is the editor in chief of diaCRITICS. Things We Lost to the Water is his debut novel.
• K.T. Nguyen (YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID) is a former editor at Glamour magazine. Her psychological thriller YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID (now in paperback!) received the Anthony Award for "Best First Novel" and the Agatha Award for "Best First Mystery." When she’s not writing, you’ll find K.T. practicing Krav Maga, watching the Mets, or playing with her terrier, Alice. A graduate of Brown University, K.T. lives just outside Washington, D.C.
• Wendy Wan-Long Shang (THE BEST WORST SUMMER OF ESME SUN) is the author of , which was awarded the Asian/Pacific American Award for Children's Literature; , an Amelia Bloomer Project List selection and a CCBC Choices List selection; , an ALA Notable Book; ; , a picture book selected by Reach Out and Read, a national literacy program; Sydney Taylor Honor Book , co-written with Madelyn Rosenberg; and , a Tablet Magazine Best Children's Book, also co-written Rosenberg. She lives with her family in the suburbs of Washington, DC.
• Andrea Tang (TO THE DEATH) is a DC-area based author of science fiction, fantasy, and young adult novels. Her books include , which was a Barnes & Noble YA Book Club pick, , and the duology, a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selection. She’s also a combat sports writer and martial artist who teaches and competes in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, where she’s previously won the Pan-American, European, and American National no-gi titles in her division.
• Pat Tanumihardja (RAMEN FOR EVERYONE) is a trusted voice in food writing and cookbooks, after decades of stir-frying and storytelling. Pat has always wanted to eat good food and write about it. And now, with bylines in the Washington Post, Serious Eats, Bon Appetit, edibleSeattle, and more, she’s living the dream. In addition to her latest cookbook, , co-written with her mother, Julia, Pat has four other pan-Asian cookbooks including The Asian Grandmothers Cookbook and . The intersection of food, history and culture is central to Pat’s work—not only in her cookbooks but also more recently, in her children’s books. Her food-themed picture books include Ramen for Everyone and which features her favorite Indonesian treat, kue nastar! A third-culture kid, Pat was born in Jakarta to Chinese Indonesian parents and raised in Singapore. Today, she lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and son.
