Celebrating Woodson @ 150: Film Showcase of Black Marylanders
The Roland McConnell Branch of Baltimore City, a branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), invites you to a special Film Showcase on Saturday, December 20th, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
This event celebrates the 150th birthday of Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the Father of Black History and founder of ASALH. The showcase will feature inspiring films honoring the lives and legacies of distinguished Black Marylanders. Documentaries on Thurgood Marshall, Harriet Tubman, and Frederick Douglass, shown by Maryland Public Television (MPT), will be shown alongside the film on Henry Highland Garnet and Harvey Johnson, which is a featured film festival selection.
Join us for a day of history, reflection, and celebration as we honor Marylandβs contributions to African American history and the celebration of Dr. Woodson's birthday.
