Keith Reid Briggs, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 22, 2025, in Vero Beach, FL, surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old.
Born on April 17, 1947, in Fulton, NY, Keith lived a life marked by faith, service, and deep devotion to his family. A proud graduate of Fulton High School, he was a natural leader from an early age, serving as student council president and founding KB Five, a band in which he played the drums. He furthered his education at Rochester Business Institute, Ft. Lauderdale University, and Spurgeon Baptist Bible College, deepening his understanding of business and theology.
Keith was a man of unwavering faith. His love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, guided him throughout his life and shaped the way he treated others—with kindness, generosity, and a servant’s heart. He lived out his faith in his career, his friendships, and most importantly, in his love for his family.
For 37 years, Keith dedicated his career the Boy Scouts of America, beginning as a District Executive in upstate New York before serving as a Camp Director and eventually earning a promotion to National Sales Representative in 1994. He retired in 2009, leaving behind a legacy of guidance, encouragement, and integrity.
Throughout his life, Keith called many places home, including Fulton and Olean, NY; Ft. Lauderdale, Lakeland, and Ft. Myers, FL; Dallas, TX; Orlando, FL; and finally, Vero Beach, FL. No matter where he lived, he built lasting friendships and created a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter and love.
A man of many passions, Keith loved being on the water and was an active participant in the Central Florida water skiing community during the 1980s and 1990s. He also enjoyed golfing, smoking cigars, and entertaining guests. But his greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved wife, Maureen, and their family. Together, he and Maureen shared a love for cruising, embarking on over 60 voyages across the Caribbean, each one an opportunity to experience God’s beauty and make cherished memories.
Keith is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Briggs; his children: Todd Briggs, Robert Briggs (Jenny), Brian “BJ” Neeson (Darcie), and Stacey Busman (Phil); his grandchildren: Zachary Briggs, Austin Briggs (Eddie), Jacob Briggs (Jess), Summer Briggs, Brian “Tommy” Neeson (Abbie), Robert Briggs Jr., Gabriel Briggs, Seth Briggs, Lucas Briggs, Dana Swenson (Doug), Penny Watson (Wayne), Jessica Chestnut (James), and Matt Busman (Jessica); and his great-grandchildren: Colt, Teagan, Asher, and Gabrielle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thornton and Lorrine Briggs; brothers, Ted and Brian Briggs; and in-laws, Earl, Annabelle and James O’Mara.
Keith Reid Briggs lived a life full of faith, love, and adventure. He leaves behind a family who cherished him, friends who adored him, and a legacy of kindness, hospitality, and unwavering faith that will endure for generations to come. His family finds peace in knowing that he is now at home with his Savior, rejoicing in eternal life.
