The famed work features “Ode to Joy,” the composer’s testament to freedom, peace, and unity. “We have to believe in the text,” Dudamel says. “‘Freude, Freude!’ (Joy, joy!)...We have to end by embracing each other!”
The evening begins with a world premiere from the Oscar-winning composer behind Disney’s The Incredibles, Coco, Up, and Ratatouille. Michael Giacchino’s new orchestral piece features a children’s choir singing lyrics by Amanda Gorman—the first poet to perform at the Super Bowl and the youngest presidential inaugural poet in US history.
