ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Jennilee Austria-Bonifacio is a Filipina-Canadian author, speaker, and founder of Filipino Talks-- an initiative that builds bridges between Canadian educators and Filipino newcomer families. Her work with 1200+ Filipino youth inspired her to write as a form of self-care. Her debut novel, Reuniting with Strangers, was a finalist for the Toronto Book Awards and named one of Canada's best books of the year. She is a founding member of Salaysay, a Filipinx literary collective based in Toronto.
Maria Bolaños (she/siya/they) is the author of the poetry collection Sana; co-founder of publisher Sampaguita Press; member of The Digital Sala; & co-organizer of the Filipino Canadian Book Festival. Maria’s work migrates them between Tongva, Ohlone, Musqueam, Squamish & Tsleil-Waututh lands, where she tries to be a good future ancestor by committing to radical spaces for the People’s art & healing, and building in community for a Free Palestine, land back, homecoming, and a liberated world.
Born and raised in Vancouver, C.E. Gatchalian is a Filipino-Canadian queer author, playwright and editor. He is the author of six books and co-editor of two anthologies. His memoir, Double Melancholy: Art, Beauty, and the Making of a Brown Queer Man, was published in 2019 by Arsenal Pulp Press. He is the co-editor of Magdaragat, a landmark anthology of Filipino-Canadian literary writing, published earlier this year by Cormorant books. He is based in Toronto.
Nathalie De Los Santos (she/they) is a writer and creative. She is one of the festival organizers of the Filipino-Canadian Book Festival. She created PilipinxPages, a bookstagram featuring Filipinx authors. She has appeared on: PechaKucha, CBC, LiterAsian (2020), TFC, OMNI TV and others. Her publications are in Magdaragat: An Anthology of Filipino-Canadian Writing, Canadian Literature, the National Women’s History Museum, Cold Tea Collective, Sampaguita Press, Ricepaper Magazine and more. She hosts the Filipino Fairy Tales, Mythology and Folklore podcast.
