(University of Edinburgh) are delighted to be hosting a hybrid event in partnership with , (Durham University) and to celebrate Black History Month. The event is part of a UK-wide initative led by the to set up pavillions around the country to celebrate the month, with this event symbolising the formation of our Edinburgh Pavillion. All are welcome to attend.
The programme for the event is still being finalised but a draft is included below:
3pm: Registration and welcome address
3.10-3.40pm: Presentations, including from Kunle Adewale and Awele Emili
3.40-3.50pm: Performance
3.50-4pm: Break
4-5pm: Facilitated discussion led by Kunle Adewale, Arya Thampuran, and Kelechi Anucha where we will discuss the topic of 'bonding and belonging' in arts, play, and health, seeking to explore ways to improve equity in the field
The in-person aspect of the event will be held in the Bayes Centre (47 Potterrow, Edinburgh EH8 9BT) in room G.03/Atrium (ground floor) and the online component will be hosted via Zoom. You will be sent the online link after booking.
This event is open to anyone to attend. It will be of particular interest to those working in the fields of arts, play, health and wellbeing.
The Global South Arts and Health UK Pavilion is a flagship of the , an International Arts in Health organization founded in West Africa, Nigeria. The GSAH UK Pavilion is a city-wide arts and health event commemorating 2024 Black History Month in the United Kingdom. The event is hosted by the , who host to provide inclusive spaces for critical dialogue, in partnership with the at Durham University and the , based in the School of Health in Social Science at the University of Edinburgh.
