About this Event
As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, we host a program featuring the Great American Songbook, recognizing the songs, old and new, that reflect the unique American experience— and whose melodies and lyrics continue to resonate as part of our history. We're proud to welcome a variety of seasoned cabaret performers to perform some of the most memorable and singable tunes that embody America. The event will highlight the history of the American Songbook, and we will also feature Carolyn Montgomery, Executive Director of the American Songbook Association, as an integral part of the evening. Because these songs all require collaboration, itself an American ideal—think of the Founding Fathers & Mothers —we also welcome to our stage tonight Jon Weber, as Musical Director (he is the longtime host of Piano Jazz on NPR). Join us for our special version observing our country’s independence.
