This year, Guildford's Tunsgate Quarter, beautifully decorated with festive wreaths and a new High Street Arch, is kicking off the festive season with a weekend brimming with activities for the whole family. Mark your calendars for two unmissable days: the Start of the Season Day on Saturday, 15th November, and a spectacular Festive Family Fun Day on Sunday, 16th November.
Saturday, 15th November: The Official Start of Christmas!
Kick off the holiday season in style with Tunsgate Quarter's official "Start of the Season" Day. Get into the festive spirit with the smooth sounds of a live jazz trio, setting a sophisticated backdrop for your Christmas shopping and explore the delightful Etsy Gift Market from 10am to 5pm. This market will feature a fantastic array of unique, handmade gifts from talented local artisans and makers, ensuring you find something truly special for everyone on your list. And to keep you warm and toasty while you browse and enjoy the music, The Ivy will be serving up delicious hot chocolate.
Sunday, 16th November: Festive Family Fun Day!
The excitement continues on Sunday, 16th November, with a free Festive Family Fun Day brought to you by Guildford Borough Council and Experience Guildford. From 11 am to 4 pm, the High Street will be alive with entertainment such as festive gingerbread characters.
A major highlight of the day will be the return of the incredibly popular Giant Snow Globe in Tunsgate Quarter, offering a fantastic and free photo opportunity for your Christmas cards! Imagine stepping inside a magical, life-sized snow globe and capturing a memorable festive moment with your loved ones. Alongside this, children can unleash their creativity with various family crafts and enjoy festive face painting.
To complete the joyous atmosphere, Tunsgate Quarter will be providing complimentary hot chocolate to those who sign up for their newsletter, ensuring everyone stays warm and in good spirits throughout the day.
Beyond Tunsgate Quarter itself, the wider Guildford town centre will also be participating in the festive fun on Sunday, 16th November. Expect a parade up the High Street with beloved characters and mascots, performances by local choirs and brass bands, and even a special appearance by the Mayor of Guildford and the Rock Choir performing at Tunsgate Quarter at 2pm.
