Come Celebrate the San Pedro! The Friends of the San Pedro are holding our annual Celebrate the San Pedro! festival at the San Pedro House on the morning of April 25th, from 9 am to 2 pm. This event is free and open to all. We do this every spring to welcome the birds as they migrate north along the San Pedro River.
We will have activities, displays, and speakers to entertain and educate about the natural and historic wonders of the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area, or SPRNCA.
Here are some of the activities we have in store: throw an atlatl; make an adobe brick; paint a design on rocks; tour the San Pedro House; dye textiles; watch butterflies; go on a nature walk; learn how to tie knots; learn how to use binoculars to find birds; learn about animals; and more.
There will also be displays about the area and activities for kids. We will have a series of talks on the natural and cultural history of the area….and much, much more. Our annual team bird count competition, open to all, will visit the river in five locations to count species. Visit our website, http://sanpedroriver.org/wpfspr/, Facebook page, or call us at 520 508-4445 for more information about the event.
The San Pedro House is located 8 miles east of Sierra Vista on Highway 90. You can search for it in Google Maps. There is ample free parking. We hope that you come out to help us Celebrate the San Pedro!
