About this Event

Unwrap Scotland's unique connection with the festive season with Anna Marshall, author of 'The Little Book of Christmas and Hogmanay: Scotland's Festive Traditions'.

In this talk Marshall will discuss different local and national traditions, from those practised in the Borders all the way to the islands of Orkney and Shetland.

From Celtic druids and Viking Yule to the outright banning of Christmas for 400 years, The Broons to, first footing, Scotland’s festive history is a joyous miscellany. It showcases the creative, elaborate and sometimes downright bizarre aspects of our culture, from the ancient past to now.

Bring along your own customs and traditions to share as we explore traditions old and new!
