About this Event
The Sisterhood Collective invites you to our next social on Wednesday, 11th March at the Carousel from 7pm-8:30pm.
In this session, we will be playing with the art of collage - and in celebration of International Women's Day, we will be inviting participants to consider:
What does it feel like to be a woman (or femme presenting) today? What female (or femme-presenting) photographers or artists inspire you?
By using collage, we can create interesting play on how different images respond to each other; as well as how they respond to the questions we are proposing, and the ways in which the personal experiences different women and femme-presenting people have will influence their artistic expression and interpretations of these questions.
We will be creating a small digital zine of the collages after the event and sharing the zine on Instagram. No previous experience or art background is required to participate; just a willingness to express ideas visually through different mediums.
Please Note: Collages will be A4 size max, and participants will need to bring their own glue and scissors. There is an option to either bring your own paper, or A4 card may be purchased from The Carousel on the day for 20p per sheet.
Although The Carousel will have magazines to create the collages, participants are also welcome to bring their own magazines (or other materials) they may want to use to create their collages.
We look forward to seeing your creations and exploring these themes with you all!
