Join us for an evening of social dancing to live music from Scotland, Greece and Italy. You are welcome to attend, dance or watch along.
What could be better than a big old ceilidh knees-up with a cracking band, callers and a pop-up bar? We cannae imagine, except maybe a ceilidh that mixes good old Scottish dancing with dances and live traditional music from other countries too! At Ceilidh Plus you can dance your wee heart out, meet new people and get to know dances and tunes from all o'er the place.

This Ceilidh Plus night spotlights dances from Greece and Italy alongside the normal Ceilidh stuff. As well as our Scottish musicians, we will have an Italo Scot folk band plus a guest Greek Scot player. If this sounds crazy, that's because it is! It's gonna be completely radge and you don't want to miss your only chance to learn Southern Italian dances on the same night as dancing a Dashing White Sergeant and riotous Rembetiko. Boom! Come, dance, get involved at a ceilidh with a difference.
Dance callers:
Marina Sharp
Monica De Ioanni, Inesa Vėlavičiūtė and other members of Italian Folk Connections
Vassia Bouchagiar-Walker
Dance musicians:
Chris Lyons
Rona Wilkie
Stefanos Tzotzolakis
Michele Quarta
Simone Caffari
Alessandro Parlato
Plus, festive sweet and savory Greek pies from Edinburgh's own family-run bakery Think Pastry!
One of the highlights in our Ten out of Ten series of events this winter with which we mark the 10th anniversary of the Traditional Dance Forum of Scotland: https://www.tdfs.org/ten-out-of-ten/
We are grateful for the support from Creative Scotland through TASGADH (Traditional Arts Small Grants) towards this first Ceilidh Plus, with all the proceeds reinvested in our efforts to diversify the traditional dance practised across Scotland and co-curate more Ceilidh Plus events.
