Coastal Carolina University Department of MusicPOP 101 PRESENTS: PIANO MEN AND SPACE ODDITIES:
THE MUSIC OF ELTON JOHN, BILLY JOEL, AND DAVID BOWIE
CCU’s Pop 101 Ensemble, under the direction of Stevie Martinez, lecturer in the Department of Music, pays tribute to three of the most iconic voices of our time: Elton John, Billy Joel, and David Bowie. From the soaring piano ballads of John’s “Tiny Dancer” to the storytelling of Joel’s “Vienna” to the cosmic soundscape of Bowie’s “Space Oddity,” the Pop 101 performance bridges the theatrical, the soulful, and the avant-garde.
