CCONS Presents: Financial Toxicity Mitigation

Please join CCONS in welcoming Dr. Laila Gharzai, a radiation oncologist and investigator at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Her academic goal is to advance cancer care while minimizing both short- and long-term side effects from treatment, spanning from physical effects to socioeconomic impacts including financial toxicity. She has utilized qualitative and survey-based methods to bring patient voices into her research, including interviewing patients to identify strategies to decrease financial toxicity and assessing patient interest in optimizing post-treatment surveillance through patient-reported outcomes.

Financial Toxicity Mitigation Objectives:

1. Define and understand the impact of financial toxicity

2. Describe methods to screen for financial toxicity

3. Describe a framework for understanding financial toxicity

4. Identify at least one method to mitigate financial toxicity
