In Conversation with Lydia Monks

Award-winning illustrator Lydia Monks joins Bea Cross (Children’s Books North Network) for an informal conversation about her creative process and career journey. Expect insight, inspiration, and a few laughs from one of the UK’s most loved illustrators.

About Lydia Monks..

Lydia Monks is a bestselling illustrator and author of children’s books. Among them are her many collaborations with author Julia Donaldson, including The Singing Mermaid, Princess Mirror-Belle and the What the Ladybird Heard series, which has sold over 4 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 25 different languages. Lydia has won many awards including, the Smarties Award, the Royal Mail Scottish Children’s Book Award, the Stockport Children’s Book Award, Nielsen Gold Bestseller Award, the Big Red Book Award, the Pan Mac Award and the IBBY Award for Illustration. She lives in Sheffield.


Funded Bursary Places

Grimm & Co and Children’s Books North Network recognise that talent is everywhere but opportunity is not. If you are unable to book a ticket for this workshop without financial help, we encourage you to apply for one of our five free places. These places are based on financial need and will be selected at random from valid applicants.

You are eligible for a free ticket if you are in receipt of Jobseekers’ Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance, Asylum Support, or Universal Credit. If none of the above applies but you feel that you are still eligible, please get in touch.

Please email [email protected] with the subject line CBNN Funded Bursary Places, and briefly outline the way in which you are eligible for a free ticket.

The deadline for applying for a free ticket is Wednesday 19th November.
