About this Event
Join us for our next Cavendish Manor Book Club as we gather for an afternoon of stories, conversation, and community. Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 3 at 1:30 PM, and we’ll be discussing French Exit by Patrick deWitt.
A darkly witty and surprisingly tender novel, French Exit follows Frances Price—a wealthy widow facing financial ruin—and her adult son Malcolm as they leave New York for Paris with little more than a few possessions, fading fortunes, and a mysterious black cat believed to contain the spirit of Frances’s late husband. Filled with eccentric characters, sharp humour, loneliness, love, and unexpected moments of humanity, the story explores themes of identity, family relationships, aging, grief, reinvention, and what it means to truly belong.
Whether you read the entire book, a few chapters, or simply prefer to listen and join the conversation, you are most welcome to join us. We will have coffee, tea, treats, and, of course, meaningful conversation. We look forward to sharing this story with you!
The Cavendish Manor Book Club is a welcoming monthly gathering created especially for adults 65+. It is open to residents, families, and seniors from the Niagara community who enjoy reading, conversation, and meaningful connection in a safe and friendly space.
