Catself, who is touring in Europe this spring, will play a concert at Floralia Park. (Dutch below)Catself writes and performs songs that touch both sparkly and darker sides of life in imaginative and unexpected ways. Audiences remember her for her distinct, varied melodies, clever lyrics and the special atmosphere she creates. While on the surface her music is gentle, in the lyrics you can notice the underlying darkness – like in nature, where an idyllic forest hides drama, fight for survival, pain and death.
But you are not going to feel melancholic or weighed down at the end of her show: this journey into the forest of songs is an empowering, soothing and also often amusing experience.
With a background in languages and literature (M.A. in English) as well as nature and outdoors (nature guide course) combined with her imagination and a traveller’s spirit, Catself has a wealth of both inspiration and tools for creating her music worlds.

Catself, die deze lente door Europa tourt, geeft een concert in Floralia Park.
Catself schrijft en zingt liedjes die op een fantasierijke en verrassende manier zowel de lichte als de donkere kanten van het leven laten horen. Het publiek herinnert haar door haar herkenbare en afwisselende melodieën, slimme teksten en de bijzondere sfeer die ze neerzet. Aan de buitenkant klinkt haar muziek zacht, maar in de teksten hoor je ook een diepere, donkere laag. Dat is te vergelijken met de natuur: een mooi, rustig bos kan ook strijd om te overleven, pijn en de dood verbergen.
Toch ga je je na haar optreden niet somber of zwaar voelen. Deze muzikale reis door een bos van liedjes geeft juist kracht, werkt rustgevend en is vaak ook grappig.
Catself heeft een achtergrond in talen en literatuur (master Engels) en in natuur en buitenleven (opleiding tot natuurgids). Samen met haar fantasie en haar liefde voor reizen geeft dit haar veel inspiratie en mogelijkheden om haar eigen muzikale werelden te maken.
