The West End and Broadway legendary musical – winner of 7 Tonys Awards, an Olivier, and a Grammy – brings a moonlit mystery that can exist only on stage. The magnificent score includes one of the most treasured songs in musical theatre -‘Memory’.

Memory and magic prowl in the shadows of the dark, as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s award-winning musical makes its long-awaited India debut. Since its 1981 premiere in London, the show has captivated millions across the globe, redefining the scale of the modern musical. CATS arrives at NMACC with spectacular staging, where soaring melodies and theatrical grandeur bring one of the world’s most legendary productions in theatre history to life.

Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the story unfolds over one extraordinary night each year when the Jellicle Cats gather for their annual ball. Under the watchful eye of their wise leader Old Deuteronomy, one cat is chosen to ascend to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a new life. Among the tribe are the mischievous Rum Tum Tugger, the conjuring Mr. Mistoffelees, the scheming Macavity, and Grizabella, the once-glamorous cat who longs for acceptance.

Composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, one of the few artists to achieve EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony Awards) status, the visual language of the production is iconic. John Napier’s oversized junkyard set transforms the stage into a towering playground, while Gillian Lynne’s groundbreaking choreography, which earned her the Olivier Award for CATS, continues to influence dance in musical theatre worldwide. The atmospheric lighting design by David Hersey and the sweeping orchestrations by David Cullen bring Webber’s unforgettable score vividly to life.

CATS remains a global phenomenon, more than four decades on. With its larger-than-life characters, imaginative staging, and timeless music, this extraordinary showcase invites audiences of all ages to experience a theatrical classic that continues to enchant, surprise, and move.
