Join us for another trans movie night at Micklegate Social, where we'll be watching the first part of Louise Weard's Castration Movie.
About this Event

The first entry in the critically-acclaimed Castration Movie anthology comprises two main plots, exploring themes of social atomisation, romance, modern trans identity and struggles, and the role of found family in the internet age. The first part, Incel Superman, delves into the pressures that drive a young man away from his partner and towards the terminally-online incel ideology. In the second part, Traps Swan Princess, we're introduced to a trans found family, depicting their day-to-day struggles and successes through a labyrinthine series of intimate, raw and extensive scenes.

This is the second trans-focused movie night at Micklegate Social in York. Doors are at 17:00, and the movie itself runs from 18:00-22:35, with a 10 minute intermission halfway through. This will be fully SDH subtitled. Please book tickets in advance as we only have a capacity of about 30.

Miclegate Social is a 5 minute walk from York Station and nearby bus stops (including Blossom Street), situated just inside the bar walls. We'll be holding the event in their Den, the venue's basement area. There are plenty of comfortable seats and unisex toilets in both The Den and the main bar area. A variety of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and snacks are available at the bar, with a small selection of hot food available at the start of the event. Please contact the venue ahead of time if you wish to discuss accessibility requirements.

Jamie will be acting as host for the night again, please direct any questions about the content of the movie to them. Tickets are free, but if you fancy donating something towards room hire or buying them a drink, it would be gladly received.

Runtime is 274 minutes (including intermission). Rated 18 (BBFC). Venue provided by Micklegate Social. Licensing and promotional materials provided by Matchbox Cineclub. Thanks again to everyone at Matchbox for their help setting up this screening.
