About this Event
WHY GO?
Moritzburg Castle is one of Germany's most beautiful Baroque castles, located in a stunning setting on a man-made island surrounded by lakes, with a lush, Baroque exterior. The intermediate 12k hike journeys through the castle’s stunning woodlands and forests, which have been a popular filming location for modern productions. Along the way, we visit many historical relics, walk through quaint remote villages, and sprawling German woodlands. After the countryside hike, there is an option for a traditional German lunch, followed by a ride in a classic, steam-train journey – originally built in 1884 – through the Lößnitz Valley vineyards down towards the Elbe. The hike will be led by travel journalist and published author Dan Cole, who runs multiple adventure experiences in and around the region of Saxony.
It’s a great opportunity to connect with like-minded hikers and explore new and beautiful parts of Germany, while travelling on one of the country’s oldest steam trains.
