Hop on the eco-buggy for the first tour of a newly acquired property next to Deep Creek Preserve, Carter Ranch!
About this Event

The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to climb aboard the eco-buggy with Volusia County Resource Stewardship Director Nick Dunnam, Chief of Land Management Hunter Folmar, and Environmental Specialist Tommy Nordmann for an introductory tour of one of the newest properties managed by Volusia County. Participants will learn about the history of this property specifically, as well as site acquisition, site assessment, and management plan development for newly acquired properties in general.

** Important note: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program. Waivers can be downloaded at Explore Volusia and completed ahead of time.

** Some GPS devices and phone apps will take you to the wrong location. Please confirm the meeting place and directions ahead of time. You can navigate to the exact location using this link: https://maps.apple.com/place?coordinate=28.979395,-81.078436&name=Marked%20Location&map=h

ACTIVITY: The tour will take place on a hay-ride style, covered trailer with benches. There will be some easy, short walks.

RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, you are not registered.

TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary.

AGES: All ages are welcome.

ATTIRE: closed-toe shoes that can get muddy and wet and comfortable clothing for the outdoors

** Some of our trails have mud and/or standing water because they are located in wetland ecosystems and because of seasonal rains and high tides. We recommend you bring a pair of waterproof boots in addition to your regular hiking shoes if you don't want your shoes to get wet. Our leader will let you know the condition of the trails prior to the start of the program.

WHAT TO BRING: water, sunscreen, and bug spray

FACILITIES: There is a port-a-let but no running water on site.

For more information, contact Tommy Nordmann at [email protected] or call (386) 943-7081, ext. 21266.

** Following the successful completion of your registration, you should receive a confirmation email, and two days prior to the program you will receive a reminder email. These emails are sent automatically by Eventbrite. If you do not receive them, please contact Tommy at the email address above.
