About this Event
April is National Poetry Awareness Month!
Join us as we commemorate the art of poetry, along with other art forms, in an intimate Open Mic setting.
This event shines a unique light on the experiences and crafts of several multi-talented artists of Caribbean Heritage, while embracing those of the African diaspora and beyond. We bring our passions, our hardships, and our triumphs to the stage where we are able to connect based on something that we ALL share...emotion.
Location:
Lakou Cafe - 195 Utica Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11213
Time:
Doors Open 7 PM

Mandy comes from a family of Haitian storytellers and musicians. The stories and sounds from her island help her feel connected to a land she’s never been able to visit. Born and raised in New York, Mandy seeks to highlight the complexities of being from a place you’ve only known in stories and put words to the first-generation Haitian-American experience.
