Canadian composer, musician, and recording artist Daniel Victor Snaith brings his next Caribou tour to PNE Forum on November 8th.
Daniel Victor Snaith is a Canadian composer, musician, and recording artist. He has released 10 studio albums since 2000 and has recorded and performed under the stage names Caribou, Manitoba, and Daphni.
Snaith’s first release was an EP entitled ‘People Eating Fruit’ in 2000 under the artist name Manitoba. Although previously a solo electronic live act, he started performing with a live band during his ‘Up In Flames’ (2003) tour. He was forced to change his stage in 2004, settling on Caribou and re-releasing his previous work under this new moniker.
His 5th studio album, ‘Swim’ (2010), saw Snaith's sound turn towards the dancefloor, and in 2011, while looking for an outlet for even more dancefloor influenced output, he began releasing music under the name Daphni. He has released 3 studio albums under this alias: ‘Jiaolong’ (2012), ‘Joli Mai’ (2017) and ‘Cherry’ (2022) on his own record label, Jiaolong. When performing as Daphni, Snaith performs as a DJ.
Caribou will be joined by yunè pinku on this tour, a Malaysian-Irish London-based newcomer layering wistful, syrupy vocals over production that draws from the UK rave canon but with a restless, textural slant.
