Join us for the Caribbean-American Heritage Festival hosted by the City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department! This family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Charles F. Dodge City Center.Event Highlights:
* Live Music and Performances: Enjoy live music and performances from the Lauderhill Street Ensemble & Dynamic Rhythms Tassa Band, Roger George, Visions Band, and more.
* Food and Goods: Explore a showcase of delicious Caribbean food and unique goods.
* Activities at The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery: Participate in lectures, workshops, and arts and crafts for the entire family.
* 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Discussions with South Florida-based artist Shawna Moulton and Curator Tiera Ndlovu on Caribbean Art.
* 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM: Learn about Afro-Futurecasting from artist Carol-Anne McFarlane and create your own Afro-Futurist-inspired vision board. (Limited to 20 participants; registration at The Frank’s front desk during the festival.)
Entertainment on the Plaza:
* Celebrity Mascots: Meet and play with mascots like Cosmo from Bright Star Credit Union and Plato the Publixaurus.
* SURF’s UP GAME SHOW: 15 lucky kids will be chosen to participate in a fun game show sponsored by BrightStar Credit Union.
Important Details:
1. Updated Participant List: Wait until the night of June 20th to print the most updated participant list.
2. Residency Requirement: Only Pembroke Pines residents can participate.
3. Business Participation: Only Pembroke Pines businesses can participate.
4. Wristband Registration: Begins June 3, 2024, and ends June 20, 2024. Registration is in person only.
5. Wear Wristbands: Wear your wristbands all day on June 21 to enjoy discounts, free samples, prizes, and surprises from local businesses.
