All Saturday July 13th, it's Cards For Comrades! We've had a give-a-card/leave-a-card bin in the store pretty much since open and it's been a great treat for folks to drop their chaff in or to periodically dig through and find something they like. For people new to Trading Card Games, it has been a great source of commons to start building new decks. Overall it's a wonderful way to circulate cards through the community and we want to scale that up to a HUGE card exchange in 3 parts.
1) From Each According to their Ability
We encourage community members to contribute whatever they can to a big public pool of cards. Bulk commons, old cards, whatever you can spare, whatever you won't regret giving to the community, we want to build up this huge public pool of cards.
2) Labor Benefiting the Community
Spend some time with us sorting cards by game/color/rarity, however you like to sort. We will also use the public card pool to build starter decks of commons and simple cards for new players to start playing with.
3) To each According to their Need
If you find anything you like, something that suits a deck you're working on, or just something that catches your eye, feel free to take it with you. We don't keep track of what people walk out with and trust our community members take reasonably.
After the event, all remaining cards will stay in the public card supply at Mimic's in a big drawer of cards that will continue to be free to the public. Even long after this event, folks on our community are encouraged to donate their excess cards to the stock and look through it to take what they would like.
