About this Event
Offsets, politely called carbon credit markets, are essential to many net-zero strategies, yet remain highly controversial. They seem an efficient solution for “unavoidable” emissions – but who decides what is unavoidable? In a net zero world, can you compensate for your own emissions by paying someone else to reduce theirs? This lecture explores potential offsetting strategies we could take. It asks, even if we need one that is effective, would setting up an ineffective strategy be the best place to start?
