Steve Dawson leads an all-star reimagining of Lucinda Williams’ iconic album at Kay Meek Arts Centre, Oct. 17 and 18. Now in its ninth year, our much-loved tradition of reimagining classic albums returns with a powerhouse cast, led by acclaimed musician Steve Dawson. This year’s edition honours Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, the landmark album by Lucinda Williams – one of the most influential singer-songwriters of her generation.
Released in 1998, the Grammy-winning album blends rock, blues, country, and Americana, capturing Williams’ raw emotional depth and signature storytelling. With guest appearances from Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, and others, it remains a touchstone in the Americana world.
In the first set, an all-star lineup of artists will perform the album in full. The second set features our guest artists sharing personal favorites from Williams’ remarkable catalogue. A co-presentation with Kay Meek Arts Centre, don’t miss this powerful celebration of a true Americana classic.
