If diversity and equity work doesn't question capitalism, how transformative can it be? And what, then, are our alternatives?
About this Event

We all know that diversity, equity, and inclusion are important. But do contemporary conversations and initiatves result in any real change, or do they ultimately continue to further a capitalist status quo?

This interactive conversation invites people to explore the challenges and contraditions within DEI work from a liberation perspective and to brainstorm solutions that go beyond tokenization and identity politics.

You can expect:

  • Warm welcomes
  • Some theoretical grounding and word definitions so everyone has a common framework for the discussion
  • An open conversation addressing the questions above and others that may arise
  • Lots of time for questions
  • Strategies and tips for a more liberatory approach to DEI work

About Your Facilitator

Nora Rahimian (she/they) is an anticapitalist business coach and the co-founder of #CultureFix. She has helped creative people around the world build businesses that are both successful and values-aligned, is a UN Alliance of Civilizations fellow, and her work is being taught in entrepreneurship classes in universities. She believes that while none of us dream of labor, there are things we can do to create more time in our lives for self, community, and environment, and she hosts events like this to remind folks that paradigm shifts around daily living are much more possible than capitalism and other systems of oppression will have us believe.

About #CultureFix

#CultureFix is a global collaborative network of artists, activists, and entrepreneurs who use their platforms for social impact. We believe in the power of arts, in cross-border collaborations, and in supporting each other’s movements with the ultimate goal of overthrowing white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism in pursuit of our collective freedom.
