The Capital Focus Jazz Band features young musicians who bring the energy and vitality of early jazz to life, playing in the New Orleans tradition with a repertoire including Jelly Roll Morton, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, and the Great American Songbook of jazz standards. Founded in 1988, the award-winning band has played at the Kennedy Center, White House, National Cherry Blossom Festival, Bourbon Street and Preservation Hall in New Orleans, and jazz clubs and festivals across the United States and Europe.
The band also has performed live on NBC’s Today Show and Bravo’s Artsbreak program. The band won a special judges’ prize for their performance at the Louis Armstrong International Jazz Competition in France. You can hear some of their lively music at capitalfocusjazzband.com.
