Alexandra Billings is an award-winning actress, singer, author, teacher, and activist. She made history as the first trans actor to play “Madame Morrible” in Wicked on Broadway, following her acclaimed debut in Manhattan Theatre Club’s The Nap, praised by Ben Brantley of The New York Times as “a sensational Broadway debut” and “a marvel of glamorous menace.”Alex’s screen work includes Amazon’s The Peripheral and the groundbreaking Transparent, along with recurring roles on The Conners, Never Have I Ever, and more. She stars in and executive produces the upcoming feature Queen Tut, earning a Canadian Film Award nomination for Best Lead Actress/Comedy, and will also executive produce and star in A&E’s limited series Liz.
She has received the HRC Visibility Award, five After Dark Awards, a Joseph Jefferson Award, the TPA and Rainbow Spirit Awards, and was inducted into Chicago’s Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame. She has moderated at the Obama White House and is the author of the memoir This Time for Me.
Alex is a Professor of Theater at USC and a Viewpoints Associate at Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
