🎷 The Capital City Big Band is thrilled to return to Edmonton’s iconic Yardbird Suite!
As one of the city’s leading community big bands, we bring together musicians from all walks of life — educators, professionals, students, and lifelong players — united by a shared passion for the power and joy of big band music. Founded in 2017, the ensemble has grown into a vibrant musical community dedicated to keeping this tradition alive and swinging.
🎼 Under the direction of Eric Wieden, our May concert showcases a dynamic mix of classic and contemporary big band writing. The program features works by legendary composers and arrangers such as Sammy Nestico, Thad Jones, Bob Florence, Marian McPartland, and Duke Ellington, offering everything from high‑energy swing to lush ballads and modern jazz textures.
