About this Event
Join the Canvas Dinosaurs Painting Lab to paint dinosaur-themed canvases as a family while exploring “Underneath a Story” through fossils, discovery, and creativity.
Beneath the Brush: Canvas Dinosaurs Painting Lab is a hands-on art program that blends creativity with paleontology and Earth’s hidden history. Designed for youth and welcoming to families, it supports the 2026 Summer Learning theme “Underneath a Story” by inviting participants to imagine what lies beneath the ground, including fossils, bones, footprints, and ancient worlds, and to turn those discoveries into canvas art.
The session begins with a short, interactive introduction to fossils and how paleontologists uncover clues from the past. Participants then create dinosaur-themed paintings using simple, step-by-step techniques such as sketching silhouettes and layering “underground” textures. The program ends with a brief gallery share, where youth can describe the story beneath their artwork.
