Cannock Chase | 9km | Open to All (18+)
Join us for an immersive journey through the rugged beauty and deep-rooted heritage of Cannock Chase, exploring a landscape where natural wonders and poignant history intertwine.
We’ll encounter the magnificent Glacial Boulder—a silent traveler from the Ice Age that stands as a testament to the ancient forces that shaped this terrain. We will visit the German Military Cemetery, where rows of stone amidst the pines offer a space for quiet contemplation. We also visit the Katyn Memorial, a moving tribute set in the heart of the woodlands, honoring those lost in a significant chapter of 20th-century history.
Alongside all of this history, we will also bag 2 (yes 2!) trig points in one day!
We will stop and take a break half way through to refuel and take in the surroundings, so please bring some food and drink with you!

🥾 What to Expect
- Duration: Approximately 4 hours / 5.8miles/9.4km
- Terrain: Some uneven terrain, short uphill sections and open water nearby – please wear suitable footwear - ascent of 130m.
- Level: Easy/Moderate - some uneven ground and short uphill sections, but we walk at a pace that suits the whole group! Moderate due to distance.

💼 What to Bring
- Comfortable walking boots/shoes
- Backpack for all your belongings
- Water - I would recommend at least 1L of water
- Lunch - we will stop half way for a break to eat
- Weather-appropriate clothing (raincoat/sunhat)
- Any personal Medic*tion
- Walking poles, if you use them
Spaces are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment!
ℹ️ Additional Information
- There are no toilets at the start - but there are places along the route for a "Wild Wee"
- Walks go ahead rain or shine unless extreme weather makes it unsafe (you will be notified in advance).
- 18 years +
- No dogs on this walk due to not being allowed into the War Cemetery - sorry pups!

Hi! I'm Chrissy and I'll be leading this walk! I'm a fully insured and qualified Hill & Moorland Leader and hold a Level 3 Outdoor First Aid certificate, and I’m dedicated to creating an inclusive and fun space for you to explore the outdoors and learn new skills. Whether it's group walks, navigation courses or 1-2-1 confidence building sessions, I love opening the outdoors to people and making a difference!
