About this Event
Join us for a rich and special evening of a candlelit labyrinth walk, with beautiful vocal and musical accompaniment from Cathy Rowland.
This is a time in the year when we all long for the light. We mark the astronomical turning of the year on the eve of the shortest day, the Winter Solstice, and celebrate the return of lighter days. And we long for the arrival of spiritual light - of love, compassion and hope - in our own lives and in these dark times in the world. In the Christian tradition, we are in the season of Advent, a period of mindful waiting, as we anticipate the celebration of Christmas.
Walking a labyrinth is a contemplative or meditative practice. Labyrinths are circuitous spiral paths which lead us to a centre area; you walk the same path back out returning to the beginning. Labyrinths are inclusive, archetypal, non-dogmatic symbols that have been found in different cultures for over 4000 years. We will walk a hand-painted eleven circuit labyrinth modelled on the 13th century labyrinth inlaid in the floor of Chartres Cathedral, France. We invite you to bring your intentions, hopes and questions into the labyrinth walk.
No prior experience of labyrinths or meditation is required
Advanced booking is essential as tickets are limited. We want to keep our events accessible to a wide range of people. We offer two fees: a standard fee and a reduced fee. Please choose the fee that fits your economic circumstances.
Any surplus from the event after covering our costs including the hire of the church, will be used to support the work of the Centre for Spirituality CIC. We are a not-for-profit organisation and our purpose is to create trustworthy spaces and community for people to explore and deepen their spiritual journey. https://centreforspirituality.org/
