Design and create your own handmade ceramic candle sconce in this hands-on clay workshop.
In this class, we’ll focus on slab-building techniques as you learn how to transform flat clay into a functional wall-mounted piece. You’ll explore how to roll and compress slabs properly, cut clean shapes using templates, and construct a sturdy form that safely holds a candle.
We’ll cover essential techniques including scoring and slipping for strong joints, reinforcing structural elements, refining edges, and adding subtle texture or decorative details. Along the way, you’ll gain confidence working with slabs!
This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate makers alike — no prior clay experience is required.
All materials and tools are provided.
Come ready to get your hands dirty and leave with a timeless handmade piece that brings warmth and atmosphere to any space.
*This is a two Step process class.*
-Your first step will be joining your class to create this project from scratch.
Once your item is created it will need to dry and go through it's first kiln firing. This takes approximately 2-3 weeks.-For your second step you will receive a phone call that your item is ready to paint. Painting your item does not require a class or an appointment, walk in any time & paint your project. After being painted it will go through it's Second kiln firing. The last step takes approximately 1-2 weeks, you will get your final phone call that you can take you masterpiece home!
When reserving your seat you will pay a $10 deposit that will be applied toward your total at check out.
