Candid Antics to perform at LACA, tickets on sale now

Grand Rapids based, six-piece jazz fusion group Candid Antics are set to take the stage at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts Friday, Feb. 21.

Candid Antics is rapidly gaining recognition as a top local act. Their original music dubbed “party-fusion” is based around energetic sax and violin lines, thumping bass, engaging chord changes and an all-mighty groove. Candid Antics puts on high-energy shows with an unmatched level of musicianship and improvisational skill.

Candid Antics are no stranger to Ludington, having performed as Pocket Watch during Ludrock 10 back in 2023.

Tickets to this sure to be entertaining concert are just $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ludingtonartscenter.org or at LACA during normal business hours. This event will also feature a cash bar. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with show time at 7 p.m.

As part of a promotion with Jamesport Brewing Co. and Ludington Bay Brewing, all tickets purchased at LACA will include a coupon for $2 off your first pint at either establishment. This special offer is good for 30 days from the concert date on the front of the ticket.

The group takes influence from Snarky Puppy, Dixie Dregs, Chick Corea, Casiopea and Ghost-Note to name a few. Although the band is still relatively young (less than 3 years old), members in Candid Antics have experience playing all over the world with a collective 60+ years of shows and touring. They’ve earned accolades including winners of the 2023 Walk the Beat competition, finalists in the 2023 'The Stray' Battle of the Bands, and official artist performances at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.

The group currently has one full length album “Sounds Like Music” out everywhere with new music being actively recorded. Candid Antics is actively touring around the midwest as they breathe new life into the golden era of fusion, bringing it to the modern age.

The Ludington Area Center for the Arts is a 501c3 Not for Profit that strives to foster a community where arts and culture bring us together, feed the creative spirit, and fuel community growth. Located at 107 S. Harrison St. in downtown Ludington, Mich. LACA offers monthly exhibits, with first Friday of the month opening receptions; and a wide assortment of performances and workshops.
