Join AMHS for an outing that takes us back in history, a walk along the C&O Canal towpath, followed by lunch at Georgetown Gourmet/Porchetta District. Friends from the Office of Textiles and Apparel/Commerce Department will be joining us!In Washington, DC, the C&O Canal begins in Georgetown on 29th Street NW, south of M Street. We will meet here at 9:30 a.m., walk for approximately 3 miles roundtrip, then make our way to Porchetta District for one of its various iterations of the “quintessential” Italian street food. (Porchetta District does not open until 10:00 a.m.). The shop does not have indoor seating, so following our sandwich purchases, we will make our way to the Francis Scott Key Memorial Park, 3380 M. Street, N.W., where this is ample seating and shade.
The approximately 3-mile walk is not “mandatory,” you may walk as much as you like. If you plan to meet for lunch only, we will look for you at the park around 11:30 a.m./12:00 p.m.
RSVP: Please contact Maria D’Andrea-Yothers, [email protected] if you plan to join this outing.
