The East Presbyterian (Colored) Church was founded in 1850. This presentation will offer a portrait of the Church, its founding members, its significance during its decade of existence, and its relationship to the Vine Street A.M.E. Church and St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. Presented by Barbara A. Nevergold, Ph.D. Dr. Nevergold is the co-founder of the Uncrowned Queens Institute for Research and Education on Women, Inc. She researches and documents the history of WNY African Americans. The mission is to reclaim, collect, preserve, and share the biographies and historical narratives of African American community builders.
