Camp Parliament for Girls London 2024 ft a Day at the Palace of Westminster is a two-day camp for girls. Camp begins with a day at Westminster Palace discovering the history and work of UK Parliament on a fun and informative tour delivered by an expert guide. Your 90 minute tour in English includes the House of Commons, House of Lords and Westminster Hall. Student then visit the State Apartments of Speaker’s House, the part of the Palace of Westminster where the Speaker conducts official business and lives. Discover the history and traditions of the role of the Speaker and see the magnificent artworks on display. * Lastly, the day culminates with guided tour of the Elizabeth Tower ascending a narrow 334-step spiral stairwell to the Belfry where Big Ben, the Great Bell, hangs.
On day two, students further examine the UK’s parliamentary system of government including the structure and history of Parliament. The lesson goes on to review the eligibility requirements to stand for office, a review of political parties, a study of the structure of elections and recognition of the UK’s female political leaders. Students will form political parties, create a campaign platform to stand for office, vote in an election and form a government to pass a law. Each student will serve as an MP. *Subject to ticket availability.
