Introducing to you: Imbas, a new fashion retail shop-slash-working studio that gives starting fashion professionals a chance to work and collaborate in an affordable studio space while being able to sell their work. This communal space allows designers to access professional-grade tools without the burden of individual investment, significantly reducing overhead costs for fledgling brands. Imbas also boasts a dedicated co-working area where designers can network, meet new clients, brainstorm, and work on their business plans. Regular workshops, mentoring sessions, and industry talks are held in the on-site event space, providing invaluable opportunities for learning and growth.
Imbas offers a unique shared workspace designed specifically for small, independent fashion designers. Imbas provides a nurturing environment where creativity flourishes and emerging talents can bring their visions to life. The idea for Imbas came from founder and fashion designer Hannah Shanahan’s experience working at Flying Solo in New York City, a fashion retail space that started small from the ground up in New York City, and she wanted to bring the business model home to London. We aim to give small businesses, school leavers, recent graduates and designers just starting out a space to work, collaborate, make connections, get inspired and sell their works both in-person and online through our website.
As a collective, we want to foster real innovation, research and development into sustainable fashion. We don’t want ‘sustainability’ to be a buzzword but a goal towards which all our designers consciously make an effort to contribute and develop their craft centered around a future where we use our art to bring about change. We want to make real moves in the sustainable fashion economy and we want to use our work and our creativity to drive social change and be the face of charitable causes. At Imbas, we believe that talent cannot be wasted on self-sufficient causes; it should be used to leave our world better than how we found it.
