Join renowned calligrapher Master Guo Shuming, author of the classical-style poetry collections 《新加坡封城诗记》, 《格物诗记》 and 《随斋印记》, for an immersive hands-on calligraphy experience.
Whether you are a complete beginner or simply curious about Chinese calligraphy, this workshop will guide you through the beauty, heritage and techniques of this traditional art.
What You Will Learn:
Calligraphy Basics
Understand the characteristics and proper use of essential tools such as the brush, ink, inkstone, and rice paper.
Learn basic brush techniques, stroke order, and the fundamentals of character structure.
Practise writing simple characters suitable for beginners.
Create Your Own Spring Couplets
Write your very own “福 (Fu)” character on a square red paper.
Learn how to write a simple Spring Festival couplet to welcome good luck and blessings for the Lunar New Year.
