About this Event
This session is designed for those who have no or little experience with calligraphy.
We will look at the development of calligraphy through the ages and where the various 'hands' fit into historical periods. A variety of writing tools will be shown and demonstrated using different types of ink, gouache, and watercolours. We'll talk about nib and paper preparation, and you'll learn how to take your Pilot Parallel Pen apart to clean the sections and refill the cartridges, if you so-choose.
You will have an opportunity to try the various pens, inks, and papers to learn how they work together (or not!) and take your samples home in a little package for future reference. This is your opportunity to ask questions, get familiar with the tools of the trade, and move forward on your Calligraphic Journey!
Supplies to Bring:
If you have your own Pilot Parallel Pen, bring it along, but tape your name on it.
If you have a pointed pen holder and nib and want some guidance, bring it, too.
Notebook and pen/pencil.
Bring your lunch and a water bottle so you can eat during the break. (There are nearby restaurants if you choose to eat out.)
