The winner of this slam will go on to represent Calgary at the Canadian Individual Poetry Slamโthe national slam competition held yearly in Vancouver in April! The winner will also receive $650 towards travel costs.
Competitors are selected based on year round scoring stats, so come out to see the best Calgary has to offer and watch them duke it out for the title of Calgary's official slam representative!

Kicking the evening off we have a fantastic feature all the way from Toronto: VANESSA MCGOWAN:
Vanessa McGowan is a Toronto based queer poet & singer/songwriter living with Cerebral Palsy. McGowan's EP "Alive" was released by Factory Fast Records, NYC & her work can be
heard as the only poetry, on musical compilations "Americana Retrofit" and "Smoking Gun". She has featured at venues across North America in two successful solo tours. Publications include Divine Cockeyed Genius and I Make People Leak
