About this Event
Walk Leader: Jesse Watson
Date & Time: Saturday, May 2nd, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Description: The community of Calder is highly valued as a preserved cultural landscape of a true, western railway town. One that developed not under the hands of prescriptive settlement plans of larger, more urban railway towns, but isolated and under the radar of planning frameworks set by the City of Edmonton. The community developed for and by the people: roads do not often connect, commercial buildings are integrated into the residential context in proximity to the railway, and houses that defy land use planning are scattered throughout the neighbourhood. Let’s chat about some interesting developments, past present and future.
Location: Calder Memorial Park (12829 120 St NW)
Accessibility: Start & finish are accessible by Bus and Bike. Free on-street parking is available. Route is all via City Sidewalks.
