The Cal Neva Driving Club is hosting the "Come as You Are" Horse Driving Trial on June 22 to be held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville, Nevada.A Horse Driving Trial is a three-phase driving versatility test for horse and driver.
Dressage Test – Driven Dressage test is to judge the freedom, regularity of paces, harmony, impulsion, suppleness, lightness, ease of movement and correct bending of the horse on the move.
Cones – The object of cones is to test the fitness, obedience and suppleness of the horse and the skill and competence of the driver.
Marathon – The object of the Marathon is to test the fitness, stamina and training of the horse and the driving skill, judgment of pace of the driver and may include 4 obstacles to maneuver through. The Driving Trial will be run with the driven dressage test first, then immediately followed by the cones. Marathon is after lunch (marathon will be no longer than 3 km/1.8 miles).
Any safe and serviceable cart may be used – Safety Check of horse/harness/cart prior to Driven dressage test. No show clothes are required, but if you want to dress the part, please feel free to!
Competition levels:
Introductory – Walk/Trot only, may have dressage test called, first time competing at a HDT event. Dressage Test Training Test A
Training – Walk/Trot only. Dressage Test Training Test A
Preliminary – Walk/Trot/Canter. Dressage Test Preliminary Test B
**Helmet is required in Marathon. Protective vest highly encouraged in Cones & Marathon.
Classes – VSE (under 39”) Pony (39” to 14.2), Horse (over 14.2, including drafts), Pairs
If you want to show both days (and we really hope you do!) we are offering a Special Deal Entry - Drive both days for $180.00 (save $40) **Special Conditions Apply** You Must show in all classes in your chosen division on Saturday’s show and Entry Forms for this special discount must be postmarked by 5/31/25.
