About this Event
CAD/CAM for Makers M/W March 16th and 18th 2026, 5:00-7:00
This two-night workshop introduces elementary Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) for creating 3D designs of mechanical parts using Autodesk Fusion 360. We will also use the Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) capabilities of Fusion to create the CNC code for machining. Models will then be machined on our Avid CNC router. CAD experience is not required, although good computer skills are (file management, online software registration, etc.).
Topics will include:
· CAD/CAM workflow from sketch to finished part
· Basic 2D CAD elements, dimensions and constraints
· 3D extrusions and cuts
· CAM setups and tools paths
· Cutting tools and strategies for routers
· Workpiece setup and testing on CNC router
· Discussion of software and skill requirements for independent projects
