About this Event

The Canadian Association for the Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (CACOLE) is The Canadian Association for the Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (CACOLE) is pleased to announce the 2026 Annual Professional Development Conference, scheduled to take place from June 1 – 4, 2026, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The conference will commence with registration and a welcome networking reception on Monday, June 1, followed by the main conference program from Tuesday, June 2, through Thursday, June 4, 2026. This event brings together police oversight professionals from across Canada, all dedicated to enhancing policing practices.

The 2026 conference Theme: Oversight in Transition: Trust, Technology, and Accountability in a Changing Policing Environment.

Police oversight across Canada is undergoing significant transition. Expanded mandates, rapid technological change, evolving legal frameworks, and increasing public expectations are reshaping how oversight bodies operate and how legitimacy is earned and maintained. This conference brings together oversight leaders, legal experts, policy makers, and practitioners to examine emerging challenges and practical solutions that strengthen accountability, independence, and public trust in modern policing.

The agenda will feature topics of interest to police oversight professionals, law enforcement officials, government representatives, and students. Participants can attend virtually or in person, with all sessions recorded and made available to attendees after the event for a limited time.

At this year's conference, attendees will have breakfast, lunch, and opportunities for networking breaks each day.

Our host city, Saskatoon is known as the “Paris of the Prairies” for its scenic South Saskatchewan River, historic bridges, and vibrant arts and culture scene. It is the largest city in Saskatchewan and a regional hub for government, education, and innovation. ACCOMMODATION
Our host hotel for the conference is the Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon Hotel, which has offered a group rate for conference attendees.

To book your stay:

The main conference sessions take place June 2–4, 2026. The CACOLE group rate applies to conference dates and is also available for stays up to three days before and three days after the conference (May 29–June 7, 2026), subject to availability.

To book the group rate for any pre- or post-conference nights, attendees must contact the hotel directly.

Attendees are encouraged to book accommodations early, as rooms at the group rate are limited.

CANCELLATIONS + SUBSTITUTIONS

Refund Policy:

  • Refunds for in-person conference fees (minus a $75 administrative fee + tax) are available with a written request submitted by May 1, 2026.
  • Virtual ticket fees and Eventbrite processing fees are non-refundable.
  • No refunds will be issued after May 1, 2026.

Substitutions:

  • Substitutions are permitted until May 29, 2026.
