We’re excited to have two top notch acts to present to you on the Spirit of Rasputin’s concert stage. Eac is unique and special in its own way and for this concert, each will perform a 40 minute set.
C.A. and Sonny is an Ottawa-based folk duo committed to preserving and spreading the joy and genius of traditional folk music. Using a variety of traditional folk instruments, C.A. Jackson (banjo, guitar, voice) and Sonny Aiken (guitar, banjo, fiddle, voice) sing songs, crack jokes, and tell tales of yesteryear. They’ll kick off the afternoon with a set of old time folk songs and stories that will have your toes tapping, hands clapping and face breaking out in an ear-to-ear smile. Their musicality is balanced expertly with their laid back performance, showcasing an enormous repertoire of antiquated melodies and stories combined with a selection of original material.

While Kathleen Johnson and Sally Thompson have not been in the limelight lately, they both have extensive experience. They’ve participated in Rasputin’s Open Stage, including as a Spotlight feature. Both have also appeared, in various configurations, at the original Rasputin’s Folk Café. They’ve performed together as a duo, as well as with other well-known Ottawa area artists including Tom Lips and Terry Tufts. Sally has had a one-woman show at the GCTC. Between them, they have released four CDs.
Kathleen and Sally are two of the loveliest people you’ll ever meet and you’re sure to find their music to be fun, entertaining and engaging. Their delivery features sublime harmonies and great musicianship. Once you’ve heard them, we know that you too will become fans.
