Join us every Monday for Bytes over Bites, a new lunch series at Illinois Tech’s Kaplan Institute. This weekly event will offer you the chance to connect with thought leaders in open discussions around emerging ideas and career pathways in their industry. Guests will range from entrepreneurs, faculty members, investors, to innovators. Each event will start with a brief intro and move into an intimate conversation. We’ll supply the lunch and leave the networking to you!

Francis Wang
CEO of NanoGraf Corporation
Prior to NanoGraf Technologies, Francis was a founder and Director of Energy Storage Center at the National Institute of Clean Energy in Beijing, China from 2010-2015. Francis’s experience in energy storage spans a range of magnitudes from very small (uW-mW) forms of storage for portable electronics & medical applications to very large (kW-MW) for transportation and the grid. He has held positions in some of the world's largest battery, consumer products and energy companies, including Duracell, Proctor & Gamble, Gillette and Boston Scientific.
Francis received his Ph.D. in 1998 from the Department of Chemistry at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is the author of over 50 US & International patents, over 20 scientific publications. He the recipient of the Forbes Next 1000 honor, and serves a board director for the Sunlight Corporation.
Nigel Becknell
Principal Technology Development Scientist at NanoGraf Corporation
Nigel has over ten years of experience in developing materials and electrochemical interfaces that solve challenges in a wide range of battery and fuel cell technologies. At NanoGraf, Nigel coordinates materials development to improve key performance metrics that translate to system level improvements for the end user. Nigel received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
